Bridge Specialty Group (BSG), a division of Arrowhead Intermediaries, is a global specialty insurance wholesaler representing a portfolio of specialty brands with offices across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe. BSG has built its position in the specialty market on speed, technical depth, and broker responsiveness
As BSG's book of business grew, so did submission volume. To continue delivering the speed, responsiveness, and service agents expect, BSG partnered with BoundAI to modernize its intake and clearance operation. The initiative reflects BSG’s commitment to leveraginginnovation and emerging technologies to scale efficiently while enhancing the experience for its agent partners. BSG was among the first wholesalers to deploy machine learning in production at the submission-intake stage - moving ahead of a wholesale market where this type of automation is still nascent, and positioning BSG as a first mover rather than a fast follower.

The challenge

Specialty submissions arrive in widely varying formats, from a range of brokers, with differing levels of completeness. Each one needs careful review, triage, and data capture before an underwriter can begin evaluating risk. As volume scaled into the hundreds of thousands of submissions annually, BSG saw an opportunity to redesign intake to accelerate submission processing, improve responsiveness, and help underwriters engage with agents faster. The goal was to create a more efficient experience for both internal teams and the agents who depend on timely underwriting decisions.
BSG set out to find a partner whose technology could handle specialty insurance complexity at scale, integrate cleanly into existing workflows, and meet BSG's standards for data quality, control, and auditability.
BSG's approach
BSG evaluated several automation options before selecting BoundAI. The decision criteria reflected BSG's view that intake automation is a strategic capability, not a point tool:
- Demonstrated performance on the kinds of submissions BSG actually receives, including complex multi-attachment specialty risks.
- Ability to deliver structured, review-ready output that fits how BSG underwriters work.
- A human-in-the-loop design that keeps BSG underwriters and clearance staff in control of every decision point, rather than a fully autonomous black box.
- Clear governance, data handling, and quality controls that meet BSG's operational and compliance standards.
- A delivery model that allowed BSG to retain ownership of workflow design and underwriting judgment.
Implementation was managed jointly, with BSG operations leadership defining process expectations and BoundAI configuring the platform to those requirements. BSG retained accountability for change management, training, and the underwriting and operational standards the platform was held to.
The results
The combined effort produced measurable change across efficiency, throughput, and underwriting readiness.
Submissions that previously sat in queues awaiting manual review can now be structured and ready for underwriter assessment within minutes. That shift has compressed turnaround time at the front of the funnel and allowed underwriters to respond more quickly in competitive first-quote situations.
The automation initiative has significantly increased BSG’s submission handling capacity while improving consistency and data quality at intake. By reducing manual processing and accelerating submission triage, underwriting teams can focus more time on evaluating risk andserving agents. Internal operational analysis indicates cost per submission decreased by approximately 40 percent, while submission processing speed, consistency and data quality have improved.

Structured intake data has also produced downstream benefits. Operational and underwriting leadership now have cleaner portfolio visibility and more reliable reporting on submission flow, conversion, and broker activity.
Speed matters in the specialty market. By leveraging AI to streamline submission intake, we’re able to get opportunities in front of our underwriters faster, respond more quickly to our agent partners, and create a more efficient experience for everyone involved. This is about using innovation to help our teams focus on what they do best while making it easier for agents to do business with Bridge

Looking ahead
For BSG, the work with BoundAI is part of a broader commitment to innovation across Arrowhead Intermediaries. As submission volumes continue to grow and agent expectations for speed continue to rise, BSG is investing in technologies that enhance responsiveness, improveoperational agility, and support long-term growth. By creating a faster, more streamlined submission experience, BSG is helping agents win more business while positioning its underwriting teams for continued success.
